We want to inspire local communities, organisations and businesses to become more aware and understanding of dementia.

    In this section we draw on, and highlight, key learning from:

  • Projects we have supported in York, Bradford, Derry-Londonderry and East Sutherland
  • Networks we have supported in Yorkshire, Wales, the UK as a whole, and Europe (EFID)
  • The Prime Minister’s Challenge Champions Group

Through actively supporting projects and evaluations in York and Bradford, and across the Yorkshire region, we have learnt a lot about what’s important in creating dementia friendly communities.

We are keen to share the learning from Phase I of DEED (Derry Engaging and Empowering Dementia) which has developed from a Healthy Living Centre in Creggan, a large housing estate in Derry-Londonderry.
